Gallery Exploration
There are so many pieces of art to see. How do you interact? How do you enlighten your child and get them curious enough to ask questions? How do you keep the attention of a full family? These are all valid questions and there are no right or wrong answers. Consider the following to become a parent tour guide:
- Choose a color for your family to find. When found, discover how that color is used by the artist to highlight an object, create a mood, and draw your attention.
- Allow your child a little space and encourage them to explore art that catches their eye.
- Make up a story about the artwork. Imagine sounds, smells, and textures that relate to the work.
- Pose like the people or lines that you see.
- What conversations do you hear?
- As a family, select an artwork that won your "best art of the day" award. Chat about each other's perspective.
These are just a few activities to help yourself and your family engage with different works of art to stimulate your conversation. Remember, your next visit to the Museum will inspire new discoveries. Art brings families together!
