The Boca Raton Museum Art School’s Youth Summer Art Camp 2015 program begins on June 8 and registration is now open.  Classes are for children ages 5 to 12 and take place at the Art School, 801 West Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, FL 33486.  For information or to register, please call (561) 392-2503 or email [email protected].  To register online visit www.bocamuseumorg/summercamp.

Art Camp runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM.  Tuition is $275* (including supplies and use of equipment) per week.  Early care is available for $25 per week and after care is $25 per week.  Boca Raton Museum of Art members at the Individual level and above receive a 5% discount on tuition and Art Enthusiast levels and above receive a 10% discount.  A 10% discount is also available for multiple siblings or registration for more than one week.

“Each day our art teachers inspire creativity as children learn new art techniques in low teacher-to–student-ratio groups,” said Walter O’Neill, Director, Boca Raton Museum Art School.  “Stimulating, age-appropriate projects are designed for children to enable independent expression and inspire collaborative projects.”

Children will participate in team and individual projects and social interaction via presentations, exhibitions, and exercise.  Art history, vocabulary, and international cultures are integrated into the projects.  Participation in the motion class illustrates how movement and rhythm relate to art.  Classes include drawing fundamentals, painting, sculpting, watercolor, cartooning, printmaking, fiber arts, collage, and taking ideas from paper to 3-D sculpture or architectural structures.

“Professional art educators gear classes toward each student’s individual level of achievement.  A balance is developed to preserve a child’s natural creativity and provide the skills and discipline necessary for deeper expression,” said O’Neill.

The Art School offers more than 100 weekly classes in a variety of media for adults and children.  Founded in 1950 by the Art Guild of Boca Raton, the Museum’s collections, innovative exhibitions, and educational programming are international in scope and reflect the creative expression of the Florida region.  In 2001, the Boca Raton Museum of Art moved into its new home in the heart of Mizner Park. The Artists’ Guild remains a strong auxiliary of the Museum with more than 350 artist-members who actively exhibit throughout the area and whose work may be seen at the Artists’ Guild Gallery on Atlantic Avenue in Delray Beach.

Currently on exhibition at the Boca Raton Museum of Art is Helena Rubinstein: Beauty Is Power (through July 12, 2015), Shannon Plumb: What A Character (Through August 23, 2015), Izhar Patkin: The Wandering Veil (ongoing), and Hammock Pointe: Express Yourself (through June 14, 2015)..

The Museum is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 AM until 5 PM, on Thursdays from 10 AM until 8 PM, Saturdays and Sundays from Noon until 5 PM and is closed on Mondays and holidays.  Adult admission is $12, Senior Citizens are $10, children age 12 and under and students with IDs are free.  An extensive list of programming and events is available online at www.bocamuseum.org.
