Museum partners with E&M Culinary, Events & Creative for a midsummer party on August 7th.

As part of the Boca Chamber Festival Days, the Boca Raton Museum of Art is celebrating the opening of four exhibitions with a preview reception open to the public. The Midsummer Party at the Museum takes place on Monday, August 7th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Tickets are available online at bocamuseum.org/midsummer.

“We are thrilled to partner with E&M Culinary, Events, & Creative for our midsummer party,” said Mary Beth Harris, the Museum’s Special Events Manager. “Their team has put together a fabulous menu of scrumptious light bites and refreshing libations!”

The Midsummer Party celebrates four exhibitions newly installed and on view through October 22nd. Shows include:

Shirin Neshat: Fervor and Turbulent
Two dual-channel video projections explore relationships between men and women as seen through the political realities of Neshat’s native Iran and the Middle East.

Photography from the Bequest of Isadore and Kelly Friedman
Dozens of important works by many influential photographers of the 20th century, including Margaret Bourke-White, Brassaï, Robert Doisneau, Helmut Newton, and Edward Steichen among others are on view. This exhibition celebrates the 10th anniversary of the debut of the most significant gift to the Museum’s photographic collection.

Patricia Nix: American Baroque
With sometimes extravagant, often strange, and always elaborate, boldly-colored work, American artist Patricia Nix creates Surrealist paintings, assemblages, sculptures, and collages that connote magic, irony, and psychology.

Deep Line Drawings by Carlos Luna
Influences from Cuba, Mexico, and Miami converge in this new body of work by Cuban artist Carlos Luna, created on handmade amate paper in a traditional practice that dates back to Pre-Columbian times. Note: This exhibition is on view through December 31, 2017.

The Boca Raton Museum of Art’s Midsummer Party is part of Boca Chamber Festival Days – a series of fun-filled events held at different locations during the month of August – and is facilitated by the Boca Chamber. RSVPs for this event are required by July 31 at bocamuseum.org/midsummer. Museum Members: Free; Non-Members: $25.
