Dilemma

Charles McGill
2016, On View
Boca Raton Museum of Art

The museum has acquired Charles McGill’s Dilemma through the incredible and ongoing generosity of long-time patron Beatrice (Buddy) Cummings Mayer.

This monumental work has been on loan to the museum from the artist and Pavel Zoubok Gallery since it was featured in McGill’s 2016 solo exhibition Charles McGill: Front Line, Back Nine. This exhibition of works made from discarded golf bags and equipment as well as video and sculpture was an examination of race and class through the game of golf, a sport often associated with “white privilege.”

Dilemma is on exhibition on the 2nd floor in a newly reconfigured installation of primarily abstract works from the permanent collection.
