Drawing from observation, learn the traditional and contemporary methods of depicting the three-dimensional space, textures, patterns and hyper realistic details. Using the rules of the linear and atmospheric perspective the students will be able to create still life, landscape and there will be introduction to the figure, based on human anatomy, direct observation and individual techniques. Composition, light, tonal value, spatial relationships, perspective, and design principles are explored. A model will be present for the last two classes.

Learn the fundamentals of drawing while finding inspiration in the Boca Raton Museum of Art galleries and sculpture garden. Discover how to use oil pastels to create beautiful, luminous drawings. Explore a variety of techniques such as creating color vibrations with simple side by side strokes like the impressionists or use more expressive techniques such as sgraffito to scratch through layers to reveal underpainting. Oil pastels offer students the opportunity to draw with paint. With oil pastels you can create colorful artwork without the use of smelly oil paint solvents or the dust of chalky pastels.
