Alla prima refers to completing a painting all in one sitting. Work with a limited color palette to create a landscape, still-life, or portrait in the space of each class session. The goal of the class is to learn drawing and painting techniques without laboring over every small detail. Each class is a learning exercise in composition, color mixing, and harmonies. Learning is maximized through demonstrations as well as individual attention for each student.

Discover how to use oil pastels to create beautiful, luminous works. Explore a variety of techniques such as creating color vibrations with side-by-side strokes like the impressionists or use more expressive techniques such as sgraffito to scratch through layers to reveal underpainting.
