Adrian is from a family of six in Medellin, Colombia, and the father of two sons. He enlisted in the Colombian army and served for five years. He opened a successful butcher shop in Colombia but was threatened by the police, guerrillas and common delinquents and had to pay extortion to them all to keep his business going. When he could no longer pay the extortionists, they came to the shop asking for the owner and threatened his wife. They decided to escape to the US that same day.

Because his wife was seven months pregnant she was stopped at the airport and was not allowed to board the plane because of her advanced condition. She stayed behind and hid from the extortionists until Adrian was able to send for her.

Adrian was 26 when he came to the US. He worked in construction and started a successful pool business, eventually hiring seven to twelve workers. His kids are 20 and 22 years old now. He is waiting to be called to Immigration court and very distraught over his situation.
