62nd Annual All Florida Juried Competition and Exhibition

May 7 – July 14, 2013

The Boca Museum All Florida exhibition annually showcases the best prominent and emerging Florida artists working today.

As the state's oldest annual juried competition, the Museum's All Florida, Boca Raton, has introduced the work of thousands of emerging as well as established Florida artists.

Representing a cross-section of our state's talent, the 62^nd All Florida Juried Competition and Exhibition reinforces the Museum's commitment to local artists, provides professional exhibition opportunities for emerging artists, and reveals a provocative glimpse of the state of Florida art.

This Year’s Boca Museum All Florida Juror

Mark Scala is the Chief Curator at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, in Nashville, Tennessee, where he has been employed since 2000. Scala’s most recent exhibition is Fairy Tales, Monsters, and the Genetic Imagination (2012), an international survey that explores the symbolism of the hybrid body in contemporary works inspired by sources ranging from folklore and science fiction to recent advances in genetic engineering, prosthetics, and other aspects of bodily adaptation.

This was presented at the Frist Center, then traveled to the Winnipeg Art Gallery and the Glenbow Museum in Calgary. Previous exhibitions have included Paint Made Flesh (2009) an international survey of figure painting in the U.S., Germany, and Britain since World War II, which traveled to the Phillips Collection in Washington, D.C. and the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester; Whispering Wind: Recent Chinese Photography; Art from the UBS PaineWebber Art Collection; and many solo exhibitions of contemporary art.

Juried Art Services is the New Software Used for Boca Museum All Florida

This year, the Museum will utilize the online web-service, Juried Art Services, to accept all applications for the Boca Museum All Florida. Go to the Juried Art Services website, www.juriedartservices.com, fill out an application and you're finished!

DEADLINE FOR ENTRY

All entries must be submitted online no later than Thursday, February 28, 2013 to the Boca Museum All Florida. Unless you are a video artist, do not send anything to the Boca Raton Museum of Art.

FEES and IMAGES

There is a non-refundable entry fee of $35 for the Boca Museum All Florida. For the $35, artists may submit 1, 2 or 3 artworks. Payment is accepted online by credit card or check. Enter payment information at the end of the application process.

Please Read The Following Application Instructions to the Boca Museum All Florida:

• Each artist may submit up to three artworks for the application fee of $35.00.
• 3D artists may submit two images per artwork in order to see the piece “in the round.”
• Video and time-based artists must include two still images per artwork submitted that represent the visual component of the work.

In addition, copies of the video or sound-based materials for the Boca Museum All Florida must be sent separately to:

Work must be in readable CD or DVD format. DVDs must be able to be played in a standard DVD player. Video or sound materials must be POSTMARKED by February 28, 2013.

 Failure to comply with these rules will result in disqualification from the Boca Museum All Florida.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Only original artworks completed AFTER January 1, 2011 and not previously exhibited at the Boca Raton Museum of Art are eligible.
• All prints in the Digital and Photography category must be signed and numbered in a limited edition of 250 or less.
• No works containing live plants, perishable items or works requiring consistent maintenance will be accepted into the Boca Museum All Florida.
• No artwork measuring more than 8 feet in any direction or weighing more than 100 pounds will be accepted without prior written permission from the Curatorial Department.
• Every artwork must be ready to install. All 2D works must be wired or have hanging devices already attached and in place and ready for hanging (we will not include any artworks in the exhibit if they are delivered unprepared for installation).
• All works must be properly identified with a secured, legible and fully completed label on the reverse when delivered to the Boca Museum’s All Florida (which will be provided in the acceptance email notifications).
• Canvases larger than 48 inches in any direction should be reinforced with cross braces.
• Do not use glass on works exceeding 16 x 20 inches.  Plexiglas is encouraged but not required for works of this size.
• Canvases with wet paint and frames in fragile condition will be disqualified.
• The Museum does not provide audio visual equipment for video works; the artist must provide their own.
• The juror's decisions are final. NO refunds will be given for any rejected entries to the Boca Museum All Florida.
• No substitutions will be permitted.

SHIPPING OF ORIGINAL WORKS for the Boca Museum All Florida

• Accepted artists are responsible for all shipping arrangements and expenses to the Boca Museum All Florida. Roundtrip shipping expenses must be pre-paid and return shipping arrangements should be explained in writing. Those sent collect will not be accepted. Please allow two weeks for shipment.
• All packing material must be sufficient for safe return. When possible, use screws instead of nails to secure wooden crates.
• All crates must be clearly and properly labeled for return shipment.
• All artwork to be shipped must meet shipping agents’ requirements.
• Do not use glass on artworks to be shipped to the Boca Museum All Florida.
• Shipped works must be received by May 1, 2013.

DROP-OFF & PICK-UP OF ORIGINAL WORKS

Original artwork accepted for exhibition must be dropped off between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM on April 30 or May 1, 2013 and picked up between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM on July 15 or 16, 2013 for the Boca Museum All Florida. Artworks will not be released to any person other than the artist without written authorization from the artist to the Boca Raton Museum of Art.

STORAGE CHARGES AFTER THE BOCA MUSEUM ALL FLORIDA

Unless prior written permission is arranged, artworks not picked up by 5:00 PM, July 16, 2013 will be subject to an initial storage charge of $20 plus $5 for each additional business day. If not retrieved by August 31, 2013, any artwork will be considered a donation to be sold in the Annual Auction to benefit the Museum. Artists will be liable for all additional expenses including packing, transportation, insurance and off-site storage. No exceptions will be made.

SALES

The Boca Raton Museum of Art does not participate in the sale of artwork. Neither will the Museum provide any documents of authenticity. All inquiries will be directed to the artist or their representative.
