Art and the IRS: A Journey through the IRS Art Valuation Process
Martin E. Basson, former Supervisory Attorney with the IRS Estate & Gift Tax Division
Wednesday, February 26, 5:30 PM - 7:00 PM
This event is sold out
Ever wonder how the IRS values artwork? Do they use different standards when a priceless Monet is taxable as part of an estate versus donated to a charity and listed as a charitable deduction on a Form 1040? Does the IRS really have the expertise to value paintings, antiques, sculptures, and other fine works of art? Martin E. Basson, a recently retired career supervisory attorney with the IRS Estate & Gift Tax Division, will explain how it all works and present some interesting statistics. He may even sing an original song on topic!
